This new burger chain opened a couple of stores in Las Vegas. Named Smashburger. They say what makes them different is the fresh meat that is smashed, seared and seasoned right on the grill. Along with Smashsides, Smashsalads, Smashdogs…..well, you get the idea.
The interior is bright, neon, clean and loud. All those hard surfaces means voices bounce from one surface to another….of course, the hard surfaces mean they are easier to keep clean too. And it was clean inside. Service was very good, to the point of being amazing. To the point of, “Am I in a burger place?” good.
Vic ordered the Smashburger ($4.99) and Smashfries ($1.79) and I, to try something else on the menu, ordered the Smash Cobb Salad ($6.99).
He thought his burger was good….and it looked delicious to me.
The fries were described on the menu as ‘tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic’. Which sounded wonderful and very different from typical burger joint fries. So I ate a few. Good fries, crisp and not greasy, but the promised garlic-rosemary flavor was just a whiff. A wimpy hint—no real punch of flavor.
My cobb salad was big and beautiful, everything looked fresh. Romaine & Iceberg lettuce, applewood smoked bacon, grilled chicken, tomatoes, red onions, cheddar, blue cheese and a tasty buttermilk Ranch dressing. Very good except for the egg, which, instead of the usual hard boiled egg, this one was scrambled, fried hard, then sliced. Ugh.
When we finished, the host (server) came by and told us just to leave everything on the table that they’d be happy, yes happy, to pick up the trash. And thru out the meal, he came by to ask how things were & if we needed something else. Great service.
For $16.71 we dined well and will definitely return for more smashing Smashburger food.
