The Capital Grille

Our Strip View

We decided on a late lunch, so when we arrived at Capital Grille, we were able to get a table at the glass wall overlooking the Strip.

I asked to see their list of cocktails and picked The Bohemian as the perfect afternoon drink.

The Bohemian

Vic ordered iced tea and the waiter brought some really good rolls, lavash and butter.

Capital Grille is known for it’s version of calamari–which tastes as though it’s fried, then drenched with garlic butter, scattered with sauteed hot cherry peppers, pale green pepperoncini, roasted sweet peppers and green onion.  Spicy, slightly sweet—addictive.  We split one order.

For his main, Vic wanted the Ribeye Sandwich.  Which was a piece of boneless, prime ribeye – served on grilled French bread with sweet caramelized balsamic onions and Havarti cheese.  He loved it.  Tender flavorful steak on delicious bread.  Served with a bunch of handmade potato chips and a horseradish sauce. Yummy.

I wanted to try their Caesar Salad….sounded good on the menu.  Actually—terrible.   Romaine was on the edge of limp.  Dressing tasteless and croutons soggy.  I left most of it on the plate and the waiter didn’t ask either.  Just took it away as if that happened a lot.?

I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with my next course….

which was Lobster and Crab Cakes with a fresh corn relish.  Now this was delicious!  The cakes came with a spicy sauce which they really didn’t need as they were creamy and full of flavor.  The side dish of corn relish was just right as a counterpoint to the Cakes.  I loved everything about this dish.

Capital Grille’s tribute to spring right by our table.

Except for the lousy Caesar—this was a great way to spend Saturday afternoon.
