Thanks goodness for Charlene! If she hadn’t walked into the bar while Mr. Ding-Bat Bartender was insisting that the Olive Garden had no ‘Signature’ cocktails, I would have been drinking, who knows what, alcoholic dreck.
Me: “Hi, I’d like to see your cocktail menu, please.”
DBB: “Uhhh…we don’t have a cocktail menu, I don’t think….”
Me: “Oh. Well, what are your signature cocktails.”
DBB: (pause)…I don’t think we have any.
Me: “Well, I looked at the menu on line and saw a list there.”
DBB: looks around helplessly….”Hey, I can make any drink you want.”
Then Charlene walked behind the bar & the bartender asked her.
Charlene: “Yes Ma’am, we have signature cocktails but they did away with the bar menu, so here’s the regular menu, they’re listed on the back.”
So I ordered a Strawberry-Limoncello Martini which consisted of:
Smirnoff Citrus Vodka, Caravella Limoncello and fresh strawberries.
But, the Bartender looked at Charlene helplessly when I placed my order and Charlene said she’d make it herself since she loved that drink.
It came with a lemon sugared rim with slices of fresh strawberries floating in it. Really good. Sweet but with a refreshing tang. Worth the $8.50 charge.
Vic ordered a Corona and we both decided to have the Calamari which was lightly breaded and fried and came with a Parmesan-peppercorn sauce and a marinara sauce.
The Calamari was just OK, (anything fried, of course, is tasty) but nothing outstanding. The two sauces were good though, and , we certainly finished every last bite.
We got there at 5 PM on a Tuesday, no happy hour prices going on unfortunately, and the bar area was pretty empty with only a few people eating.
When we left there were a few more people, but actually, if you are looking for a quiet place to have a drink & a snack, Olive Garden hit the spot. You’d better pray Charlene is working that day though.
